If you have a tooth with damage to the root or the tooth becomes infected, a root canal might be the recommended course of action. This procedure lets you save the original tooth, rather than losing it to extraction and replacing it. The process includes removing the pulp and nerves inside of the tooth and filling the chamber with a compound that allows for stability. Then a crown is placed permanently over the tooth.
A root canal is a straightforward procedure. After the procedure is completed, there will be no pain from that tooth again because the removal of the nerves eliminates any sensitivity.

At Dr. Gina Ha & Associates, we take a great deal of time in assessing your tooth and explaining the process. We start by placing a rubber dam around your tooth so that no moisture will get in during the procedure. The tooth is drilled and then the entire inner chambers are cleaned out thoroughly. Then a temporary cap is placed on the tooth until your new crown is ready for placement.
Next, we use a compound to fill in the empty chamber. The crown is then permanently fixed over the damaged tooth. The process seems lengthy but it is a long term solution. It’s also an aesthetically pleasant option that allows you to keep the natural tooth.
